2002 was a pretty special year for HRB; not only is HRB celebrating 18 years
of being on the air, but it is also 30 years since hospital broadcasting in
Basingstoke started back in April 1972.
To celebrate the big event, we held a big birthday party on 28th April to
which as many ex-members that we could track down and friends of the station
were invited.
It was a very memorable day for all those involved, and although we had just
about all the weather conditions you could imagine, from bright sunshine to hail
stones, the day was a great success and enjoyed by all those who came along.
Thanks have to go to Nigel and Paul from Winchester Hospital Radio who
provided all we could possibly need in the technical department (and left a few
people a bit dazed as they produced technology such as radio headphones and
radio microphones), and also a big thank you to RAF Odiham for providing the
cake. It was enjoyed by everyone present and then the rest was donated to
the children's ward where we understand it was put to use at another birthday
party the following day!
