The contribution will be towards the cost of attending as a full weekend delegate from the Friday to Sunday of the weekend.

A successful applicant will be required to attend seminars and workshops to improve their skills and knowledge as a hospital radio member/broadcaster and therefore benefit Hospital Radio Basingstoke too.

A successful applicant will be required to write a report about their experience at conference and submit it to the committee within 3 months of conference i.e. by the end of June 2017.

The 2017 Conference will be at:

The Holiday Inn, Bolton

From Friday 24 to Sunday 26 March 2016

HRB will make a contribution of up to £50 to the cost of a full weekend for 1 person to attend.

The format for the conference weekend is as usually as follows:

Trips to other radio stations and related places e.g. in 2014 in Bristol, the trips included BBC TV and Radio in Bristol and Bristol Hospital Broadcasting Network, in 2015 Radio Tyneside and Northumberland Hospital Radio and in 2016, Radio Hillingdon and Radio Brockley.

There may also be some seminars.

A fun event with special guest designed to get everyone into the conference mod.  In Watford, the guest was radio and music executive Trevor Dann.

A selection of seminars and workshops designed to increase members’ knowledge and skills as a hospital radio member.  The subject matter could be anything to do with hospital radio and the “technical” knowledge needed to attend any of them is very low.

They are designed to appeal to as wide a range of delegates with all levels of knowledge and skills.  Many of the seminars are delivered by those who work professionally in the radio industry.

Details are announced before the event.

There is also a trade show of companies and other organisations offering products and services relating to radio and hospital radio.  Companies in the past have included Psquared, Vortex, Sonifex, Devaweb, Smile Publications and Richard Smith (The A to Z of Pop)

Gala dinner and National Hospital Radio Awards

More seminars and activities.  In Watford, special guest was HBA Patron and Voice of the Balls Alan Dedicoat.
