June 2009 HRB's members enjoyed a gloriously sunny day at Ropley station near Alton on Sunday 28 June 2009 with it Watercress Line day out. The station set up a mobile studio in the picnic area and played out music and interviews with Watercress Line volunteers. There were live interviews with members of the Watercress Line staff as they met the trains on the station, and other hospital radio stations were invited to join in the fun. Southampton Hospital Radio, Winchester Hospital Radio, Hospital Radio Reading, Radio Marsden and Frimley Park Hospital Radio accepted the invitation and spent the day riding on the trains recording their own interviews. Members of the public were invited to take part in a raffle to win a car. HRB is running the prize draw throughout the summer with a brand new Fiat 500 car up for grabs for the person with the lucky ticket. The draw is being run in association with Zurich, everyclick.com and the FSI which supports small charities in the UK. We even got to "clean" a steam engine belonging to a rather famous person... Hopefully Pete Waterman will be impressed. Maybe he'll even give us something for our efforts! A good day was had by all and hopefully there'll be the chance to do it again next year.
