Mike was a presenter on hospital radio from 1973 until
1985. He saw the station grow from the early days of Mini Radio into CMMR
and then into HRB.
In 1984, Mike built the wooden surrounds for
the new studio bought with money donated by Marks and Spencer, and that was
still in use until the fire in 1999.
Mike presented the show for
the children's ward, then known as 5-4-3-2-1 and was known as "SuperMike"
for getting up early every Saturday morning. Mike moved on to host
"That's Entertainment" which looked at entertainment in Basingstoke
each week.
Mike came back to HRB to guest host Sunday lunch on
2nd June 2002 and revived his "That's Entertainment" show.

The great
British weather intervened in the HRB Watercress Line day but we
still managed a tour of Ropley station and a ride on the train.
Want
to join us but not present a programme? We are looking for
new members to be ward visitors, to go around the wards during
the day and collect requests to play on the evening's
shows. Interested? Click

A new era
for HRB is coming soon. We are currently
