The 2012 National Hospital Radio Awards have taken place at the Park Inn in Northampton and HRB has come away with Gold in the Best Newcomer category.
The station was nominated in 3 categories, but it was Tuesday evening presenter Christine Rowley who won Gold in the Best Newcomer category.
This category was open to anyone who joined a hospital radio station for the 1st time during the 2 years prior to the closing date. Those entering were asked to make a 5-minute compilation to show the judges what was achieved on air in the short time they had been broadcasting.
HRB was also nominated in the Special Event category for coverage of the Basingstoke Half Marathon and in the Station of the Year for the 8th time in 10 years.
Speaking after the show, Christine said "It's been a fantastic night, It's great to see how well the event is supported."
The awards were judged by radio industry professionals and people involved in providing health services, and all said how high the standard of entries was in all the categories was this year. They are open to the 225 member stations of the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
The awards came at the start of National Hospital Broadcasting Week which runs until Easter Monday to celebrate hospital broadcasting and all that it does. The event was attended by many of the judges along with friends and special guests of the Hospital Broadcasting Association. These also included HBA Patron Alan Dedicoat, the voice heard on numerous TV shows including the National Lottery and Strictly Come Dancing.
