Five Nominations for HRB at the National Hospital Radio Awards 2018

The nominations have been published for the 2018 National Hospital Radio Awards and Hospital Radio Basingstoke has been nominated in 5 categories.

Hospital Broadcasting Association Patron Alan Dedicoat, better known to millions as the “voice of the balls” on the National Lottery as well as the voice of Strictly Come Dancing announced the shortlists on New Year’s Day.  It’s the second year in a row that HRB has achieved 5 nominations and only one station in the UK has more.

The entries that were nominated were the show promo for Sarah Beattie’s Spooky Halloween Special in Best Station Promotion, the category in which the station won bronze at the 2017 awards.  Also nominated was HRB’s coverage of the Hampshire Hospitals Open Day which was held at Basingstoke in September.  Coverage of the event was led on the day by station Chairman Dave Leonard who said he was “delighted” that the station was nominated again in what is the showpiece event of the hospital radio year.

A programme marking World Sight Day in October was nominated in the category of Best Speech Package and the presenter of that show Christine Rowley was also nominated in Best Female Presenter, a category in which she has previously won the silver award.

Finally, the station itself is once again nominated in the Station of the Year.

The entries are now in the second round of judging and the winners will be announced at a gala award ceremony being held in Windsor at the end of March.  Judges include NHS England Chief Executive Simon Stevens along with others who work in the health service and the media.

The five nominations are:

Best Station Promotion – Sarah Beattie's Spooky Halloween Special

Best Speech Package – World Sight Day Special

Best Special Event – Hampshire Hospitals Open Day 2017

Best Female Presenter – Christine Rowley

Station of the Year
