HRB – Reporting on the end of a great season for Basingstoke Town

Basingstoke Town have found themselves in the play offs for promotion to the Football Conference in the best end to a season for many years.

HRB will be reporting on their final game of the season at Weston Super Mare on Saturday, which will confirm who they will play in the two-leg play off semi final next Wednesday and Saturday.  And we'll have reports from both those games too.

Depending on how results go on the final day of the season, Town could end the season second, third, fourth or fifth in the table. It would take a bizarre set of results for them to finish fifth, while they can only finish second if they win and Boreham Wood lose away at Chelmsford City.   Victory in Somerset would pretty much guarantee a top-three finish, securing them home advantage in the second leg of the play-off semi-finals, while defeat would consign them to fourth place, meaning they would play at home first.   Another factor to throw into the mix is the fact that the play-off final will be held at the home ground of the finalist that finishes higher in the table.   So while it would seem that Basingstoke have little to play for this Saturday, the result could have a big bearing on the play-offs.

Join us from 3pm on Saturday for reports from the game at Weston Super Mare and then from 7 on Wednesday for news of the play off semi final first leg.  John McKay will have news of the second leg next Saturday and should they make it to the final, John will also keep listeners up to date on 9 May from 3 – 6pm.
