HRB’s Christmas Season

It’s another HRB Christmas packed this year with programmes to entertain the patients and staff at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

We are pleased that we will are able to present live request shows on every single day over the Christmas, giving our listeners the chance to choose one or more of their favourite songs throughout the Christmas holiday period.

As usual, it all starts with The Great Christmas Cracker Dash which involves the HRB team running around the wards pulling crackers with the staff and giving them the opportunity to win tickets to see the local Christmas pantos.  We’ll be joined by the casts of the local Christmas pantos in Reading, and Basingstoke and staff can win a family ticket to one of those local shows.  We’ll also feature the panto at the Corn Exchange in Newbury as well as other special guests, competitions and surprises in a 6 hour live show.

The team will be live from around the wards again on Christmas morning with Dave Warren and Neil Ogden from 10am until 1pm.  Later on Christmas Day, we’ll be out and about again at Alton’s Yuletide Festival and Andy McCormick will present his Christmas Postcard from New Zealand.

We’ll also be out and about at Odiham’s Christmas Extravaganza with Rosemary Kershaw and Rebecca Clark.

Amongst the best of the rest, we have award winning documentaries featuring the likes of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and The Beach Boys, as well as Genesis, Queen and The Bee Gees.

On New Year’s Eve we will be on air live with a 20 hour special show as Richard Smith and his team return with The Big Broadcast.  There will be competitions, requests and lots of great entertainment live on over 30 hospital radio stations around the UK and HRB will be part of it with its own 15 minute segment.

Finally in the first week of 2014, we’ll be counting down HRB’s Most Requested Artists of the Decade culminating in a live 7 hour show on 12 January.

And on 11 January 2014, it will be 30 years since we became HRB (having been Chairman Mike's Mini Radio before) and we'll mark that occasion with a two hour special show.

Full details of our Christmas schedule will be announced son.
