The latest HRB member to have been awarded with a long service award was Vernon Pearce whose over 20 years with HRB was marked by presenting him with a long service certificate from the Hospital Broadcasting Association.

Vernon joined HRB in 2002 having been a volunteer at nearby Wey Valley Radio and Delta FM.  He began presenting live shows and also took an interest in recording lots of different specialist music shows too, something that he still does today.

Vernon served on the committee as Treasurer and then when he retired to Spain started presenting Postcard from Spain every month, following on from Postcard from New Zealand with Andy McCormick which was already a regular fixture of the HRB schedule.  Other “Postcard” shows have followed since and Postcard from Spain can still be heard on the second Sunday of the month.
