Sunday Night 70s and 80s

Hospital Radio Basingstoke will be covering two major sporting events live in the next month.

On Sunday 7 September, we'll be linking up with our colleagues at Radio Tyneside to bring HRB's listeners a taste of the Great North Run in Newcastle.  Radio Tyneside has won awards for its coverage of this particular event in the past and HRB will be among a number of stations who will be using their coverage of this year's event.

The Bupa Great North Run is the second largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September.  Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields in the county of Tyne and Wear.

Then in October, HRB will be live at Basingstoke's own big event – the Basingstoke Half Marathon.  Now in its fourth year, the race is known for being one of the toughest and has attracted some big name athletes too.  The race will start and finish in the War Memorial Park and take in some of the fantastic scenery of the North Hampshire countryside – as well as some of the steepest hills!  In its short history, it has built a reputation that puts it on a level with ome of the great races in the south, yet retains a real community feel.

So join us for The Great North Run live from 9am on Sunday 7 September and The Basingstoke Half Marathon from 10am on Sunday 5 October.
