HRB’s Weekend Prize Draw will continue for another year thanks to the anonymous donor who has made a donation to cover the cost of the prizes.

The draw, which originally began in 2012 when prizes were provided by Sainsbury’s, takes place every weekend where every patient who has a request on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday before the closing time, gets given a number, and then a number is drawn at random to decide the winner.  That person then wins the prize which is a small goody bag normally consisting of something shower gel, tissues, a puzzle book etc.

Programme Controller Neil Ogden, whose show also hosts the draw, says that the prize draw is a great station event which has become very popular over the years.  The prize may not be very big but the success is the fact that there is a prize which someone wins and someone in hospital gets that moment of recognition.  There have been some great reactions over the years to winning the prize.

The draw takes place ever Sunday at 2.40 during Neil Ogden’s Sound of Sunday with the winner getting their prize on air later in the show.
